PROMOTING GOOD GOVERNANCE, ANTI-CORRUPTION, AND INTEGRITY

At PRIMORG, we recognize the detrimental impact of corruption on our country’s progress. Consequently, we initiated citizen engagement programs to combat corruption in Nigeria through radio broadcasts amplifying investigative corruption reports, tracking constituency projects, and citizen engagement on the streets through Vox Pop.
Radio effectively reaches diverse and often marginalized populations, facilitating real-time dialogue and public scrutiny.
PRIMORG is actively involved in the fight against corruption and promoting accountability in Nigeria through a project funded by the MacArthur Foundation. This project, which commenced in 2019, focuses on amplifying investigative reports on corruption through radio and social media.

A vital component of the initiative

A vital component of this initiative is the weekly radio show, Public Conscience on Radio (PCR), broadcast live on 99.9 KISS FM, Abuja, every Wednesday, and syndicated on other stations: 98.3 Hot FM Abuja on Fridays from 11:30 am to 12:00 noon, 89.9 Albarka FM Ilorin on Fridays from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm, and 101.9 Jay FM Jos on Thursdays from 9:00 to 9:30 am.
The radio program serves as a platform for amplifying investigative reports on corruption, enabling citizens to engage with the issues and exert pressure on implicated government agencies to address the allegations. Over 361 episodes have aired, featuring more than 146 corruption-related reports. The program has a broad reach, with over 1,083 episodes syndicated across multiple stations in various geopolitical zones.

Promoting Ethical Behaviour

In addition to exposing corruption, PRIMORG’s radio show also acknowledges citizens who demonstrate integrity, providing positive role models and promoting ethical behaviour. Other significant activities include tracking constituency projects in the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, and Nasarawa states, as well as hosting radio town hall meetings, social media interactions, and street engagement (Voices against corruption; Let the people speak) to empower citizens to speak out against corruption..

Some of PRIMORG's notable achievements include:

– The National Youth Service Corps implemented a new medical fitness policy to prevent falsifying medical reports after amplifying a report by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR).
– Over 52 households received electricity meters from the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company after a report by The Cable was highlighted on the program.
